Alpha Hope offers counseling for individuals, couples, and families.

Individual Counseling
In individual therapy, the counselor is a skilled listener who fulfills the need of the client to be heard and understood.  Psychotherapy is a form of intervention regarding the relationship between early childhood experiences and later adult personality and behavior.  Psychotherapy and counseling are well established in both psychology and social sciences.  The cornerstone of the client/therapist relationship is trust.  Alpha Hope counselors treat each client with respect, warmth and compassion.  Our counselors are very knowledgeable, well-versed, caring and genuine.

The treatment plan includes a focus on changing present ineffective behaviors, developing more effective communication and problem solving skills, developing self-help skills and on preventative techniques.  Sometimes a combination of counseling and medication may prove to be an effective approach to treatment.

Alpha Hope counselors utilize cognitive/behavioral therapy techniques to assist the individual in changing maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns.  Individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and other mood/affective disorders often benefit from individual therapy.

Couples/Family Counseling
Couples/Family therapy assist couples and families in developing and improving communication and empathy skills.  Often a great bond develops as the couple/family explore situations together.  In couples/family therapy, the focus is on identifying and exploring the difficulties in the relationship/s, as well as the strengths and positive aspects of the relationship(s).  The counselor acting as moderator and facilitator, provides a supportive, safe environment for couples and families to confront, discuss and resolve their problems.
